Why You Need to Buy a Merino Wool Quilt Today

Home & Garden Blog

In Australia's winter months, it's important to have a store of winter blankets so that you are kept cosy and warm during the coldest months of the year. But entering a department store and being confronted with the huge number of quilts and blankets on offer can be intimidating to say the very least. Merino wool is a soft lambs wool that is the perfect quilt material. Here are some of the reasons why you need to invest in a merino wool quilt today.

It's great for sensitive skin. If you have sensitive skin, you have to be really careful about the materials that you place close to your body. Some varieties of wool might be too scratchy for people with skin conditions such as eczema and psoriasis, and synthetic materials are a definite no-no, but that doesn't have to be a concern with merino wool. The material is 100% natural and extremely soft, and this means that it should cause absolutely no irritation to people with skin conditions. Of course, always opt for a 100% merino wool quilt in order to make sure you have no reaction to the material.

It's equally great for the environment. Climate change is one of the most pressing issues in the world today, and it's important to take into account the impact that every purchase you make has upon the natural world. Opt for a merino wool quilt and you can feel certain that you are making a choice that not only gives you cosy nights of sleep, but that's also great for the environment. The lambs' wool that merino wool is made from is 100% biodegradable, which means it's a totally renewable fibre source. What's more, there are 70 million Merino wool sheep in Australia, and this means you don't have to worry about the environmental toll of wool being imported from foreign countries.

It adjusts with your temperature. Merino wool is a totally breathable fabric, and this means that it very cleverly adjusts to your body temperature. In the winter time, a merino wool blanket will keep you feeling toasty and warm, but in the summer time, a layer of merino wool can actually be cooling. Opt for a merino wool quilt and there will be no more throwing the covers on and off during the night -- it will keep you exactly as warm or as cool as you need to be.

Next time you walk into a quilt store, such as Luxor Linen, watch out for merino wool.

Improve your Bathroom

Hello. My name is Tina and this is my home improvement blog. The bathroom is one of the most important rooms in the house. My mother used to always say that you could discover a lot about a person by how clean their bathroom was. Because of this advice, I have always been very worried about the state of my bathroom. Last year, I was convinced that the bathroom was too old and grubby so I contacted a team of contractors who came out to work on it. They re-tiled the place and installed a new sink and splashback. I really love me new bathroom and I hope you like my new blog.
